Objective : Chronic prostatitis is a common disease among adult men, yet it is very difficult to diagnosis and treat. This study was designed to evaluate the clinical effects of herb medicine, acupuncture, and herbal acupuncture therapy on chronic prostatitis.
Methods : We investigated 15 chronic prostatitis patients with NIH-CPSI (National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index). They were treated with herb medicine, acupuncture, and herbal acupuncture therapy.
Results : After the treatment, NIH-CPSI decreased significantly. As the period of treatment for prostatitis was longer, the cure rate was higher respectively.
Conclusion : These findings suggest that oriental medical treatment for chronic prostatitis may promote medical cure.
